This disc is even helpful for owners of the Poly-800 II, which uses a different patch format. This would make a wonderful addition to anyone who owns a (PS-800) Poly-800, and EX-800 which are based on the same type of hybrid digital/analog programming and are able to load the same patches. Now includes a patch names database so you can flag sounds that you like the best.Īll files available either as a CD-ROM or as a download which is compatible with both Macintosh & Windows PCs. I’ve also included information about some mods you (or a technician) can make to the Poly-800 to make it a better synth for modern music, as well as more valuable information. I also have over 10 WAV files including program data which can be loaded into a Poly-800 if you’ve got an audio cable connecting your computer’s sound card to the Poly-800 (under $5 from Radio Shack, not included).Īdditionally, I have included sysex patch transfer software for Macintosh OS9, OSX, and PC (I don’t have a Poly-800 any more, so I can’t test it) as well as some data in sysex format. I've already replaced many caps and transistors that were missing or simply wrong parts, verified all harnesses, connectors, traces & voltages and continuity between IC's. As a former owner and programmer of the Korg Poly-800, I made PDFs of the User Manual, Program List (including not just the names of patches, but all the settings), and MDK ROM sheet (that’s the rare ROM upgrade that allows first generation Poly-800 keyboard synthsesizers to transmit patch data via Sysex). Got this poly-800 in a non working state and the display does not come on, actually after further troubleshooting there is no sound either. The Original Poly-800 was one of the first synths. It was an affordable addition for the studio or live gig and had easy access to excellent analog sounds. was within reach of the average keyboard player. It also was relatively inexpensive and could play either 4 or 8 voices of polyphony depending upon whether one used one or two oscillators to make a sound. The Korg Poly-800 Series, produced between 19 was the first fully programmable synthesizer that sold for under a thousand bucks. It was the first synthesizer manufactured with MIDI onboard, so it was a popular controller for other synthesizers.
The Korg PS-800 was widely popular under its nickname, the Poly-800.
